I realize this is an XP newsgroup, but did not have any response in the
Win98 newsgroup...so I thought I would try the experts in here...Since we
all probably went thru the 98 system first.
I did post this yesterday, but never showed up in this newsgroup.

My wife's HP with Win98 refuses to go into
standby mode. The window comes up stating that its going into the standby
mode then freezes. Any help would be appreciated as how to fix the problem.
Otherwise the system still run fine.

Thanks Alec

Don't go into standby... not all motherboards/BIOS's work correctly

Right click on a blank screen, go to the Screen Saver tab, click on
the POWER button and change the settings to NEVER

I agree with John. Even without bios problems, 98 never
supported standby very well at all.
