Alec

I realize this is an XP newsgroup, but did not have any response in the
Win98 newsgroup...so I thought I would try the experts in here...Since we
all probably went thru the 98 system first.
I did post this yesterday, but never showed up in this newsgroup. I also
posted this at 8:05 pt today. My group questions/answers has a void between
7:51am and 11:am.

My wife's HP with Win98 refuses to go into
standby mode. The window comes up stating that its going into the standby
mode then freezes. Any help would be appreciated as how to fix the problem.
Otherwise the system still run fine.

Thanks Alec

Hi,

Your best chance at an accurate answer is in a Win98 group. This may help:

Have you tried HP tech support on this issue? HP computers can have
unique quirks about them, and their behaviour if often not connected with
the operating system.

dear Alec

you can read the following article to troubleshoot the
problem you are facing with your computer's standby option:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=/support/windows/tshoot/apm98/default.asp

if this doesn't resolve your problem, then you can contact
your computer manufacturer if you had got the windows 98
operating system pre-installed when you purchased your
computer.

or else you can even write to (e-mail address removed)
