standby message

When i try to go into standby, i get a message about
driver 1284.4 compatible printer driver not allowing
standby. if i turn on my printer hp 7150 and turn it off
again, then i can enter standby.. any thoughts where the
problem lies.

Um, your printer driver? Seriously, you've already located the source of the
problem. The solution may be to update, or at least reinstall, the printer
driver as it is not properly supporting the stnadby function.
