Standby and Hibernate

My computer isn't following my Standby and Hibernate settings. I'll set
Standby for, say, 10 mins and then Hibernate for, say, 15 mins. The system
isn't automatically shutting down with those settings, it just keeps on
keepin' on. Something running in the background keeping it from peacfukl
slumber? Perhaps I don't understand how to set the procedure? It's
annoying! Help!

Did you see my reply to your first post? If you can't find it search for it

Actually, this is the fifth time I've tried posting this question. This time
it finally went through. Apparently, from scanning through other posts,
others were having the same problem when posting a question the past couple
of days. I'd post and then I get a reply but when I went to find it,
nothing. Looks like whatever problems the newsgroups were having is solved
because mine is actually here! I'll read you reply and get back with you.
Thanks!

I suggest you ditch the awful web interface and use a newsreader to access
what are actually Usenet newsgroups. The experience is much better. There
are any number of newsreaders to suite your taste. XP comes with Outlook
Express which can be configured for newsgroup access. Here's a link to info
on how to set it up.
