Hi all,

I have an easy question, but I didn't found the answer yet through google
and searching the KB from Microsoft. So I post it to this newsgroup.

My boss wanted to know what different graphic formats Windows XP out of the
box supports. What graphic formats are shown in the Explorer as Thumbnails,
without installing special graphic programms.

I would be very happy if you can point to an Webpage where I can see a list
of the graphic format which is supported from Windows XP out of the box.

Thanks for help,

Danny

Open Paint and look at the File > Save As> File of Type list. Those are the
graphic filters that are supported within XP out of the box.

Most .ICO files (those built with image types included in that list) can be
displayed as thumbnails as well. .TIFF format is not standardized and the
composition can vary from simple to complex. Consequently you may run into
one now and then that will not show up as a thumbnail.

Look at the "Folder Pictures" section of this article for a documented
list: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812003
