Looking for an inexspensive printer without the need for a PC, having
memory card input slots. capable for 8x11 print size., direct from
digital camera.

While I do not recommend printing that way you can buy an Epson R3.xx
series printer. That will do what you request and produce decent
quality. That said the Canon IP4500 will produce better photos but does
not have card slots. In its place you can use pictbridge if you camera
supports it.

In the final analysis the Epson may be good enough if you do not choose
to modify your requirements.
