SSL and Frontpage forms

Hi,
I am going to post this again...it appears by first message got lost in the
shuffle.

I have a website that contains 2 forms (Order Form and Contact Us) created
in Frontpage. A few days ago I purchase a SSL certificate to secure my site.
When the certificate on my entire site was installed, it basically disabled
all the forms. I called my ISP today, and they explained that when a secure
certificate is installed, none of the forms on the secure site will work.
They need to be recreated using PHP scripting (whatever that is). I had them
uninstall the certificate so my Order Form and Contact Us form would work.
Is there anyway to have the forms that I created 5 years ago work after
installing a secure certificate on my site without having to recreate the
forms?

Your web host need to configure the FP extensions to support Port 443 (SSL), then the form will
work. You will then need to access the forms via https://www.yourdomainname.com/formpage.htm

Thank you Thomas. Would you mind taking a look at my site? It's
www.notecardsbymer.com. My ISP (Earthlink) did not mention anything about FP
extensions to support Port 443 (SSL). Is this something they will know
about. So, are you saying that after they configure the extensions, my Order
Form could be accessed at https://www.notecardsbymer.com/orderform.htm? What
if they don't know what I'm talking about?

If the technicians do not know what configuring extensions for Port
443 is about, you need another host, fast. However, they may not
install the extensions anyway, and in this case you will need a PHP
form handler.

If you need a new webhost, Infoquest is great, and they are a FrontPage
certified site (I think). I've been using them for about ... 12 years? They
are very inexpensive and are also very knowledgeable about FrontPage. It's
infoquest.com...and tell them I sent you.

Thanks. Where can I find a PHP forms handler? I have no idea what that is.
Earthlink told me they were having problems with the GeoTrust SSL certificate
and FrontPage-created forms. They said they could/would not configure the FP
extensions for Port 443. They suggested I purchase a Thawte certificate
which they said would work with my forms as they are. Does this make sense?
As you can tell, all of this is pretty Greek to me. Thanks again for your
help!

No, it does not make complete sense.
There will be problems with any SSL certificate and FrontPage forms if
the extensions are not installed on Port 443, and as far as I know
that includes a Thawte certificate, which still needs SSL, and that
means FPextensions must be installed on Port 443.
Do a Google search for "PHP form handler" including the quotes.

Thomas, How do you configure the FP extensions for that SSl port 443 setting?
I can go into the IIS manager and select my website bring up the properties
and see the port assignments for SSL being 443 but I can't find this setting
anywhere in the FP extensions admin pages. So what do you mean. By the way
just setting IIS to port 443 doesn't work either.

After you enabled port 443 for the specific web, did you restart IIS? There is no specific setting
in the FP extensions administrator. You may have to remove and re-install the extensions for the
specific web after setting Port 443. Also you may want to also post to the IIS or Windows Server
newsgroup for help with this.
