ss-? about sp1 and sp2

hi group,
i have had pc problems for about a year and haven't been able to do any microsoft updates,
i have the sp1 disk but it's not installed and i plan on getting the sp2 disk when it's available
i am taking my pc in to be repaired
i need to know does the sp1 disk have to be installed before the sp2 or does the sp2 take care of everything that was on sp1
i am totally illerate when it comes to pc's

Service Pack 2 replaces all critical updates (including SP1) that came
before it.
You state you have a SP1 CD - is it a Windows XP Installation CD with SP1
already included in it? Or just the SP1 CD itself?

If it is the former, then you could create your own SP2 slipstreamed CD
using it.
