I've been meaning to download SpywareGuard for some
time and finally remembered it tonight. Not knowing
exactly where it was located, I used Google to look for
a d/l site.
Of the first THREE sites I tried, one I'm pretty
sure was download.com, I got a Spy warning that I was
trying to d/l from "Avenue A" which was a known threat,
did I want to continue? Obviously I didn't, so rather
than click anything, I just hit CTRL-F4 and checked for
more links. I finally found it at ituned.com, I think
it was, and downloaded it - looks like a good download,
no virus, no spyware. So far & near's I can tell.
Can anyone tell me what's up with that crap? I
followed up and Avenue A, whatever it is, IS in fact a
known threat, but the name only came visible after I
tried to start a donwload. So apparently these were
all redirects where I got that known threat message.
In guessing, I also tried a "spyware guard" search too;
that's simply local stuff on a local machine, not
spyware in the sense that I mean it, and cost $50, so
it was easy to pass on at least.
Curious crap there for the top hits at Google for
spywareguard.
