i had ms antispyware & norton antivirus 2005 installed
5/19/05. but now i am getting an error message, when
connecting to the internet, that reads that i should
install ms antispyware. also on the microsoft antispyware
(beta 1) page under Message Center reads:

This version expires in 5 days.

(This version of Microsoft AntiSpyware expires on July 31,
2005. Please contact Microsoft for an updated version.)

i called the tech. who installed the program, he said to
notify you and inform you of the problem. according to him
the program should last a year.

. Hello David,
Was this a new computer you had the programs
installed on? I am just curious if you had to pay the
tech for this. These programs are very easy to install.
If you can point and click you can install them. If I
were you, here is how I would try to fix this issue:
Uninstall The Microsoft Spyware Beta by going to :
Control Panel>Add Remove Programs> click Remove in the
Beta Change Remove window on the bottom right.
After the progrqam is removed, turn off the anti-
virus just long enough to do the following: Go to
Microsoft.com and reinstall the first version. After a
short period of time ( the time will differ so be
patient) the program will go to the web to update itself.
The Beta will notify you by a window on the bottom right
of your screen that there is a new version and would you
like to install it now. Click yes and it will download
the new version.
It will ask you to reboot the machine. Click yes.
After the reboot turn on the anti-virus. Give the Beta
a test run to see if you have any problems.
Best of luck to you,
Ron J
