Spybot - why no update?

I use Spybot 1.3. I regularly run the Update facility, and assumed
that it would not only get new definitions but also advise me of any
new version, as this message clearly states:

"Use this option if you want to know if there is a new version of
SpyBot - Search Destroy, and what's new about it."

But I've just learned elsewhere that 1.4 is available (downloading it
now). Not sure how long ago it was released. Does anyone know why did
1.3 not inform me of it automatically please?

1.4 release was announced 31-May. On the Spybot website, click on
"News", then to go further back, click "Next" at the bottom of each
page. Note that some of the bugs discussed in this newsgroup have been
acknowledged there.
