I would like to create a spreadsheet, but I can't seem to find a spreadsheet
program. How do I get into one?

You will usually have to buy that type of program. Companies that develop
them tend to like to get paid for their efforts.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase either Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Works, or any other
spreadsheet application of your choice.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

I know about purchasing a program and how to install. What I am asking is if
my Office XP has a spreadsheet program and how would I access it. I am used
to Office ME.

First off - there was no "Office ME". Office 95, 97, 2000, XP, 2003...
Sure.

Secondly - you did not originally state you had Office XP. You are in a
Windows XP Help and Support newsgroup - noting to do with Microsoft Office
XP. It would be quite the jump for anyone to assume you know what office
application you have from the two sentences you wrote originally. Not to
mention if you had previous versions of Microsoft office (even if you did
not know what they actually were) you should know how to run an application
and what program from the suite is a word processor, which is a spreadsheet
application, which is a presentation designer, which is a contact/email
manager and so on.. The different version have been "improvements" from the
last - not new products each time.. *smile*

Last - Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application. If you have Office
XP - you should know how to open Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook
and so on by now - I would think. Open Microsoft Excel and start using it
if you want to create a spreadsheet. It's probably in your start menu,
possibly on your desktop, maybe even in your QuickLink toolbar next to the
start button. Start it just like you would Internet Explorer, etc.

I can't open Works Spreadsheet docuement with MS XP Excel. Any way to do so?
