My wife went to print something tonight, and not only did
the printer not respond, the whole PC seemed to lock up.
I went to Task Manager, where I found that the
spoolsv.exe was eating up more than it's fair share of
the CPU.
My mail client is Outlook ( not Express ), and if I kill
that process, spoolsv calms down to about 20% of the CPU
instead of 70% or better. But as soon as I start Outlook
again, spoolsv goes nuts again.
I am running WinXP home, and I have all of the latest and
greatest updates from Microsoft. I've checked MS Web
site, and they say that there is something to address
this in SP1a. But if I run a scan, I don't get a hit for
SP1a. According to the Control Panel, I am currently
running at SP1, and don't know how to download SP1a.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
