spoolsv.exe 100% cpu

My XP Pro system is extremely slow.
Task manager reveals that spoolsv.exe is taking 90-100%
of the cpu.I have tried ending it, but it just starts
right back up.
I have been troubleshooting this for weeks. I have found
many links on the www but none of them seem to be the
solution to my problem.
Please help. 512mg of ram performs like 64k or worse!
