computer very slow!! SPOOLSV.EXE file at 99 CPU usage

Derek

We have a new computer with Windows XP (it is the host
computer for a small home network with 3 other PCs). We
recently loaded Norton AntiVirus 2004 and the computer
started slowing down big time. We uninstalled NAV, re-
installed the older OEM version and have done a basic
clean boot.

When looking at the Windows Task Manager, and clicking
on "Processes", I notice the CPU usage for the
file "SPOOLSV.EXE" is at 99. The NAV file is less than 2,
so it does not appear to be slowing down the computer.

I understand the SPOOLSV.EXE file is some kind of printer
spooler -- what can I do to repair this?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. My computer is a new Dell Inspirion 5150
The printer is a Dell A940. The Spoolsv.exe process will start usin
99% of teh CPU. If I kill the process the computer runs fine for
minute or two and then teh process starts up again and takes all o
teh CPU capacity. Did you find a fix???
