Running XP Home and "spoolsv" is using 99% CPU. What can
I do to bring back to normal.

TIA

Matthew,
Thanks for the quick replies. I am troubleshoooting and
cleaning out this computer for a friend. I check task
manager in processes tab and it runs consistantly 99 -
100% all the time. The printer is NOT connected, just
mouse & keyboard, and monitor. I removed the msblast
worm and installed the patch. Can this process be ended
or should I remove the printer?

Again, thanks

Charlie

I am not an expert.

If it were me, I would uninstall the printer and see if that fixed it. If
not, I would end the process.

I would go to the web site of the printer manufacturer and see if they list
any issues. Maybe update the printer drivers.

Matthew,
I found the problem. It was a second occurance of the
same printer installed with the non default occurance
trying to delete 7 documents. I was able to delete 6 of
them, but the last one took 2 dozen attempts to cancel
with about 3 reboots to finally delete the last document.
Able to delete all printers to bring CPU usage to 4% idle
time.

Thanks again for the reference to the printer process.

Glad to be of help.
