Spontaneous Read Only

I have a user that is running W2k Pro SP3. Here is the
issue. They have folders on the C: drive so that the Read-
Only attribute is off. When the user accesses any files
in that folder and exits out the folder automatically
becomes Read-Only in the attribute set. This happens for
multiple folder on the same machine.

The Explorer uses the R/O bit on directories to cache
some state information. The R/O bit on directories has
no material effect on file creation or deletion.
