Hello everyone,

I have a question, is it possible to have a big file to attach (i. e. > 1
MB) but my pop3 and smtp provider doesnt support files larger than that, so
i'd like that outlook will automatically split the attachment in several
emails send them all to the same recipient, then on the other side the
recipients may assemble manually or automatically by outlook the set of
received mails.

Is this possible?

AFAIK Outlook has no functionality that does that automatically for you.
You'll have to split the file yourself and manually create the multiple
e-mails.
To help you split the file into your preferred sizes you could check out the
convenient and freeware HJSplit 2.2 (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/)

Thanks for your reply, I also think outlook has not this automatic feature, i
have used for several years different file splitters programs to send large
files as splitted attachments... But as I may not be the only one doing that
i wondered if there was already a third party add-in for outlook that did
this. Until now i havent been able to find such an add-in in the net.

Thanks,

Outlook 2000 IMO and Outlook Express offered this ability. I've not heard
of an add-in for any more modern Outlook versions. What's wrong with a
stand-alone app as suggested?

Thanks Brian,

What is wrong with the stand alone app is that if you have to send 10
attachments it takes time and concentration to attach the right piece of the
splitted archive to the proper email and send the 10 emails, if there were an
automatic feature that did this in outlook it could be even transparent to
the user that you are sending more than one email. I mean, outlook (or a plug
in) could manage to split - attach - send - reassemble the files in such a
way that neither the sender nor the recipient of the large attachment would
notice that the file was sent by means of 5 emails instead of one.

Do you think this makes a difference with the stand alone app? I do.
Nestor.

Clear enough, but if i am not using that method is because my recipient can
only access SMTP and POP3 services. My recipient does not have full access to
internet.
Thanks,
