Hi There:

I just bought a new computer, and a new OS.
In the past I had Windows 98 SE, with a 20GB HD.
Now I have Windows XP Pro, and 120 GB HD.

Can I split up my new HD so that I can run Windows 98 SE on 30 GBs, and the
rest have assigned to Windows XP Pro.

You see I like to mess with programs like:

Photoshop, Illustrator, quarkXPress, Lightwave 3D, Bryce, 3DSMax, After
Effects, Premiere, Flash, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Corel Draw, Freehand,
Paint Shop Pro, Maya, Xara 3D, Cool 3D, etc....

and some work best on XP, and others work best on Win 98 SE, and I just want
them all to be happy.

I just opened up my HD on my new computer an it's alread split in some way,
it shows 2 Hard Drives, when I know there is only one. Whats that about?
One says (As usual) ............Local Disc (C:)
The 2nd one says............... DISE BACKUP (D:) Freespace 2.05
GB, ---- Total Size 6.33 GB

I have a 120 GB HD.

Thanks
Bruce

Hi Bruce.

Yes you can split your hard drive into 2 separate partitions I would suggest
that you install windows 98 first onto the primary partition (C:) and then
install Windows xp onto the second partition (Normally D:) you will also
need to have the C: drive formatted with FAT32 so windows 98 will work on it
if you want to access the WinXP drive from Win98 you will also need to
format it in FAT32 otherwise I would recommend you use NTFS on the WinXP
drive.

hope this is helpful
