Hi. How do I disable an application's 'splash screen' that comes up
each time I open it.
At present I have to click 'esc' to get past it and it doesn't do
anything but advertise the company. Thanks anyone. Dingo.

If the application gives you the ability.....
Look in the options/preferences to see if there is the option to not
display.
Failing that there may be a reg entry to switch it off.

Hi,

If supported, it sometimes helps to add -nosplash and -nopopup to the target
line in the shortcut properties. If not, then there is little you can do
beyond complaining to the program vendor.

It really depends on the application. Some have the option to
disable, others do not. What is the application you are referring to
in this case?

With *some* you can add a switch on the end of the command line that
launches it: right click its shortcut (or entry in the Start - All
Programs menus) and take Properties. In the 'Target' try adding a space
and /nosplash at the end. A different program may need a different
switch though, and some may have no provision for one at all.

Hi Kelly. It is called the Phreego Dialer. Part of Phreego. com, an
ISP with accelerated web browsing. You don't have to use the dialer to
use the ISP if you can access the internet any other way, but when I
cancel my old ISP, I will have to use it.
As soon as it signs on a screen for 'Ask Jeeves' comes up. I have
Google locked in (thanks to your site) as my permanent IE browser and it
is directly behind the 'Ask Jeeves' splash screen. I have to click
'Home' to get to Google.
The target in the phreego dialer shortcut isn't something I am familiar
with. It looks like this:
Target Type- (BA126AD7-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E)
Target Location - Network Connections.
This is not, by the way, the Ask Jeeves Toolbar, which I have not
installed. Thanks. Dingo
Any suggestions would be welcome.
