Hi. The xp splash-screen doesn't bother me per se, but if it's
possible to minimize the length of time it shows, that would be a good
thing. I have found references to hacks that will turn it off
entirelyh, but they come with a caveat that that does not necessarily
speed up the boot time. So, which of these are correct:
(a) I can blank out the splash-screen, but it won't save any time;
I'll just display a blank screen for the same amount of time that the
splash-screen would show.
(b) I can replace the splash-screen with another image, even with SP2
installed, *IF* I'm careful enough to follow the hack directions very,
very carefully!!
(c) Altho I could either blank-out the splash screen or replace the
image with one of my own choosing, there is no way to reduce the time
that is allotted for the image to show.
(d) The reason that there is no setting for the length of time for the
splash screen to show is simply that it really *isn't* programed for a
specific length of time; rather, it's a function of other
programs/tasks/processes starting up "behind" the splash screen. If I
were to look at things to minimize boot time in other ways, the
splash-screen would automagically be displayed for less time.
Thanks for any help you can provide!!
