SpellCheck Stopped Functioning...Can't Turn On

When I try to turn on "spelling and grammar" tools in a new Word doc, a
message says it's not installed. When I try to install, it says feature not
available.

Other clues: Old documents before spellcheck disappeared still have the use
of spellcheck if I type new text in them so it's definitely only a problem
with new docs. This message has a spellcheck functioning in it, by the way.

Importantly, as another clue, a message keeps asking if I want to use
Spanish spelling and grammar tools as I start a new doc -- and a message asks
if I want to install if say "yes" to using them (if I try to install, the
message says they are, of course, not available).

When I went to Microsoft Tools - Language Settings to see if I perhaps had
Spanish mistakenly checked as my default language, I get "Fatal Error" when I
try to open "Language Settings."

Help...as a bad typist I make typos constantly... and I have several
important documents due tomorrow!

Thank you.

I recommend you post to a Word newsgroup and specify what version of Word.
