Spellcheck error - Word 2008

I have a user who is trying to spellcheck a document and is getting the
following message . "I’m getting a block that says: Text marked with 'do
not check spelling or grammar' was skipped." I am unable to find how to
remove the do not check spelling option. I do not see it under Proofing.

Ctrl+A to select the whole document.
Review tab, Proofing group, Thesaurus, Set Language, make sure that English
(US) (or whichever language you do want) is selected and that the two check
boxes at the bottom are UNCHECKED. OK
This will take off any occurance of the "do not check" that can be applied
anywhere in the document.
Rerun Spellcheck.
Hope this helps

Dean - there are no boxes at the bottom of the screen. When I click on
Thesaurus under the Reviewing ribbon I get a window that opens to the side
called "research" - I can click on English but there are no boxes to uncheck.

I don't use 2008, but was hoping that these would have been there.
Try using Replace function, Find - Leave the box empty but click on More,
Format, Language, check the "Don't Check" box (so the tick is black not grey).
Replace - leave box empty, Format, Language, uncheck the Don't check box.
Replace All.
Hope this helps.

I believe the path you want is Review | Proofing | Set Language. Thesaurus
doesn't come into it at all.

I was having the same problem; word kept skipping large sections of my
document. I would select all text, go into the set language menu, and uncheck
"do not check spelling or grammar," but nothing would change, and as soon as
I went back in to the set language menu the "do not check spelling or
grammar" box would be checked again. Extremely frustrating.

Setting the default language to English (U.S.) rather than English (Canada)
seems to have fixed the problem...
