I recently downloaded and installed the latest versions of
Outlook Express (6.00.2800.1106) and Internet Explorer
(6.0.2800.1106) and now the spell checker only works
properly when invoking it in a new email. If I invoke it
in a reply, it immediately reports that it has completed
checking the reply successfully but it does not catch any
spelling mistakes. I tried unchecking the box next
to "Ignore original text in replies and forwards" under
the Spelling tab under Tools|Options (I think) and then
the spell checker performed as expected - it checked the
spelling in all the original text and the newly typed
text. When I check this box again, it stops checking
spelling in replies only. This is bizarre behavior. Does
anyone have any idea what's going on? My system is a low
end HP Brio running Windows 98SE.
