I am unable to access one particular site (www.silicon.com)
but can browse the web with no other problems. I recieve
the error message: Unable to determine IP address from
host name for www.silicon.com
At first I assumed the site was down but (a) it has been
unavailable for days now & (b) I receive a daily
newsletter from the site which hasn't mentioned any
problems.
The problem is the same on all machines on my network, &
with IE5 as well as IE6.
No settings changed (that I am aware of), it was just
there one day & gone the next.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Thanks for the help, but that isn't it - there isn't a
file called hosts, hidden or otherwise, just hosts.sam &
lmhosts.sam.

Any more ideas?
Again, many thanks

Eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
