Special Characters in Outlook express

On my other machine running windows"98" when I want to print a special
character ie: e with an accent as in my name Andre I type the # 1 3 0 while
holding the Alt button and the special character comes out. I can't seem to
do it on this Machine a Compaq Presario 700 Notebook. any Ideas out there????

- You did not tell us what Operating system you run on the Compac.
Is it Windows XP?
- The number for the French "é" accent is 0233, not 130.
- You can find all characters, accented or otherwise, by running
charmap.exe.
