My speakers worked fine. Until yesterday...just no sound. I checked to device
and it says there is no device. I have tried unplugging them and plugging
them back in. Nothing seems to work. I've even tried to update. That didn't
work either. Please help. Make it simple..I'm new at this computer stuff!

Check the disks that came with your PC when you purchased it. You
need the drivers for your soundcard and they're probably on a utility
disk, maybe something like SoundBlaster. Your soundcard is where
the speakers plug in on the back of your PC. If you cannot find a disk,
go to the manufacturers website for a free download.

I forgot to add, before doing the drastic. Try a System Restore, go here:
Start>Control Panel>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
You can go back up to 90 days, but try the latest bold one you have
listed since your problem just started yesterday.

You've checked what device? Device manager? Speakers will not be listed
there. Is your sound card listed?

Double-click the speaker icon in the system tray then turn up the volume
or uncheck 'mute'. Simple enough?
