I have a Trust SC 5200 sound card,

checked ALL settings in control panel/ sounds and device manager

updated drivers from the manufacturer website
unplugged the speakers, plugged them back in
done all of kellys top 10 FAQ's regedits
restored to an earlier date and done the above again
done the troubleshooter, it cant help me
check the BIOS everything is correct
have not used headphones

and i STILL can't get my speakers to work...

the problem is, they were working 2 hours ago, then i updated windows (been
putting it off for a week(this wasn't SP2)) and then they stopped working.

my system is an ECS motherboard with NO FAULTS i have check and
troubleshooted everything. any one know of any other problems? im really
stuck and its frustrating me.... help!

I have found more updates on the windows update site,

now my speakers give out a "static noise" but still no sound/music

so i guess hardware is ruled out. any info?

Took the system back further, the speakers are now very muffled giving out
static over every sound but its playing the sounds, only extremely distorted
and very metallic (best i could describe it).

im still trying to solve it but does anyone know what the problem is? it
would be handy before i find it though.

tried to play the sounds through my USB phone (via control panel/sounds) and
it works fine. so this means its either the soundcard or speakers right?

but i only started having this problem when i installed the updates, has
Bill Gates killed my speakers?

I recognize this, you need to unplug the hardware, uninstall the drivers,
restart your system and let Windows Hardware wizard do the job. After then
you can upgrade the drivers with the one from the manufactured. If it works

Whats the best way to uninstall the soundcard? as i have uninstalled in the
device manager before hand and unplugged and restarted/turned off put back in
turned on and it comes back as exactly the same thing. like a usb device
would.

any tips?
