Hello, All!

A friend of mine called to ask me about "the new toolbar" in OE (XP). I
connected remotely and saw SpamBlockerUtility. She doesn't remember how she
installed it.

First we tried running SpyBot. Wouldn't launch. Hmmmm.

Anyway.. Add/Remove programs listed 3 SpamBlockerUtility applications. We
removed them that way. We uninstalled SB 1.3 and downloaded version 1.4.
Setup wouldn't run and said it was corrupted. Hmmm... appears that
SpamBlockerUtility monitors and trashes anything related to SB?

Looks like a bugger to remove. Will have to do it personally, onsite.

So... just a caution to you all... SpamBlockerUtilty (affiliated with
Hotbar) kills SpyBot!

Thanks for the information, Ogg. SpamBlockerUtility isn't the only app
that does this, either. I just saw a client's machine that had
SpySpotter on it and the Spybot S&D that I had previously installed was
completely gone. A good place to look up rogue antispyware programs
*before* installing something is MVP Eric Howes' site here:
