Spam, Spam and more Spam

Recently I've been getting swamped with spam. Windows Mail
segregates most but not all of the approximately 50 to 100 a day.
Most have Pfizer in the From field but most are different and seem
top be medical advertisements in general.
I feel as though I'm being attacked!
Is there anything I can do about this??? Would it do any good to
complain to my ip???

Any help will be appreciated.

There's not much you can do about it.
Ask your Internet service provider if they have an option to do
more extensive filtering at the server level.

I'll do that.
Thanks

James, you should not use your real email address when posting on a
newsgroup but use a fake one instead to avoid getting even more spam.
Also, with a program like Mailwasher Pro (which I've been using for
years), you can delete and/or bounce spam email and report it as spam
at the server level without ever downloading it into your email client.

You really don't want to receive any spam email in Windows Mail or
OE, etc. Mailwasher Pro works great and is very easy to use and I get
almost no spam even with numerous email addys and the Mailwasher
Pro has definitely helped that. Hope this helps.

The email is fake. Can this spam be triggered from visited web sites??
I'll defiantly look into Mailwasher.

Okay, that's good that it's a fake addy. If you have good anti-virus and
keep it updated, I don't think that you can get spam from visiting websites
as long as you don't give them your addy. I have customer accounts with a
number of reputable online merchants and do not get any spam as a result as
far as I can tell. Obviously I can't speak for all websites. Of course if
you have a personal website, you should not have a link for your addy there
but instead use formmail, etc.

I don't mind getting spam from places I deal with.
These emails have no text in the body of the message,
only a Subject. It seems someone is doing it just to piss people off.

Then I wouldn't call it spam. However, since it's still something
you don't want, I'd check the header lines (press the Ctrl and F3
keys at the same time while the message is open to see them)
and check if they're all coming from the same IP address. If so,
find a way to tell your filtering program to block everything from
that IP address.

Does the sender reuse the same From address, or the same word
in the Subject line? If so, that gives you something to filter on.

Yes, I too get email from places I deal with but that's not really spam.
With Mailwasher you can look at the message header and source, all on the
server without having to first download it into OE or Windows Mail. You can
then decide to delete/bounce/report the email or download it into your email
client. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sorry 'bout the delay in my response.
The sender uses a different From address so it wouldn't do any
good to block the sender, but the same word appears in the
Subject line allowing me to create a message rule.

Yes, create a message rule that looks at the Subject line,
and if it sees that word, the message is to be deleted.

Unless one is really experienced at finding the originating
IP address, I would not bother with that approach.
Windows Mail can't filter on that anyway.

Thanks, to all, for the assistance here.
