spam filter

will outlook ever have a spam filter?

don't tell me we have to keep adding address and keywords to the block
lists. I've tried and it does not help. I do not wish to buy spam filter
software. i would think outlook would have or is going to have those
features.

since i am being flooded with spam, i have stopped using outlook and used my
SBC Yahoo! online email. Now if outlook had that type of spam filter, i
would start using it again.

And I'd like an update to NNTP that prevents reposting the exact same
message repeatedly to the same newsgroup.

How is it Outlook's fault that you don't bother to upgrade to the latest
version of it that incorporates a Bayesian anti-spam filter?

How is it Outlook's fault that you don't avail yourself of plenty of
more robust anti-spam products than Microsoft will ever incorporate into
any of their e-mail clients, and many of which are free, like SpamPal?

How is it Outlook's fault that you are too lazy to bother digging into
the Yahoo Plus mail options to disable "Include Bulk Mail folder when
downloading new messages"? It is Outlook's fault that you don't bother
to check Yahoo's own help
(http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-30.html)?

Thank you! If this system did work, I wouldn't have gotten error messages
asking me to re-post.

Is Bayesian any good? I don't know, I don't plan on wasting money without
knowing if it will work. Would I buy a new car without test driving it? No.

Since that product was not mentioned in any of the posts, or free programs
on any search engines, I can not comment.

I was hoping there was something like that. I have been looking through my
options every other week and nothing. This is new stuff to me. It may say
2003, but I have just now noticed it. They must be filtering some
used-to-be-plus functions down to the regular user.

Thank you.

I use it as a backup scheme to detect spam. SpamPal is free. Its
primary method to detect spam is to use public blacklists of known spam
sources. Its HTML-Modify plugin helps to protect against nasties in
HTML-formatted e-mail along with detecting spam using that format. Its
URLbody plugin checks if any URL links in the message point at known
spam sources. The Bayesian plugin works to statistically weight the
words in your messages to determine which ones are spam, plus it will
work with SpamPal and other plugins to learn from them about spam
messages. It's free. When was the last time you not only got to test
drive a car but also got to take it home for free?

Outlook, regardless of version, can't do anything about the options you
configure in your Yahoo Mail account. Options you change in Outlook,
Word, Excel, Notepad, Windows, etc., will have no effect on the options
you change in your Yahoo Mail account. The link shows you how to change
the option.

If other companies offer it for free, why can't microsoft do the same? I
don't want to use yahoo for busniess. So I'm forced to use outlook with our
email server. My opinion is that Microsoft is missing the boat on this
problem.

Oh well....

Why are you complaining about a company not adding a feature free? How does
that keep the company in business so that it can offer anything?

If you believe a feature is essential, then you should be willing to either
pay for it or move to a service that offers it.

Actually they aren't missing the Boat. Microsoft's boat on this sunk about 10 years ago and I bet they count their
blessings it did.

Turns out Microsoft has entered into an agreement recently with another enterprise to look into this issue. But don't
count on anything constructive coming from it. Until the protocol is changed for e-mail this issue will continue. Filters at
the server work to some extant but the spammers are using those to make valid e-mail servers no longer "trusted."
