When Windows XP starts there seems to be a timeout between the desktop window
and the starting of the icons. This is after the Welcome window. Is there a
way to prevent this from happening. This is a new computer and it seemed to
be okay at first.

Will, go to Start>Run type: msconfig click Ok and select Startup Tab.
Uncheck those items you don't need to Open on
Startup of XP. A lot of programs you install will put an entry there.

Thanks Rich. That fixed it. I am a little wary of messing around unless I
have someone looking over my shoulder, but that worked well
Thanks again.
Will
