Word Space bar in MS Word

When ever i'm writing in Word in MS Office 2000 and i use the space bar it seems to move on one space ok, but if their is a letter in front it deletes it? Is this a settings error? Thanks in Advance:thumb:

Might sound a daft idea, but have you checked your 'INSERT' settings?
 
It is just your INSERT button, normally on the right side of your keyboard, or use the 0 button on your numeric keyboard, but make sure your NUM LOCK button (and light) is off first, otherwise you will just keep typing zeros!
