SP4 install/update error

Having been receiving svchost.exe errors, I tried to download SP4 over a dialup. and after 4+ hours it completed with 'service pack error' unable to update' and it cancelled. any suggestions?

Svchost errors are usually due to a virus. See recent post

To get SP4, find a friend with high-speed internet and download the
update from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/default.asp
Download the "Network Installation" version, burn it on a CD
and take it home to install. (or order the CD from Microsoft).
