After ERD Recovery - SP4 Reinstall Error

G

Guest

I had a pc that was recovered with an ERD this weekend.

After successful boot, many reinstall messages ensued. I'd thought I'd start
with SP4 reinstall, it gets to the end with "Service Pack 4 Setup Error", "An
error in updating your system has occurred.".

Any clues on resolving this ? I've looked all over the net this morning and
have found nothing that is applicable.

Thanks for any help

Try running the install from a 'safe mode' boot. Also look for errors in
%systemroot%\Svcpack.log file.

Hi Dave,

After reinstalling IE6, SP4 was able to reinstall without going to Safe Mode.

Weird...

Applied the security rollup and reistalled MS Office, another thing that
wouldn't reinstall.

IE6 must've had a key dll that was missing ?

Anyway, all is well, thanks !
