SP4 install on W2k Pro

While installing, got the following error message:
The instruction @ "0x01001ee7" reference memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
I pressed Cancel to Debug, which displayed the following:
"Unhandled exception in sp4iis.exe 0xC000005. Access
violation."
Visual C++ editor displayed the following
line: "01001EE7 cmp word ptr[esi].bx"

The install then went on "running processes"
and "performing cleanup" and then displayed "You have
successfully completed SP4 Setup ..."; however my CD
drives no longer work. I also continue to get
message "Reboot & select proper boot device ..." when I
cold boot.

Any ideas?

how many programs running in back ground> eg virus checker etc

Did u try installing service pack in safe mode?

Did u backup system files before applying sp4?

Did u make emergency recovery disk before applying sp4?
