sp4 failed install and can't install again because in progress?

i see lots of post re: sp4 problems. all w/ no answers. i
tried an sp4 update and for some reason it failed to
totally install. when i try to re-install it, it says
installation is in progress??? i don't see an option to
uninstall it or how to continue installation???? any
ideaz?

Make sure that you have complete admin rights on the box - we had a similar
issue as this, and it turned out our user wasn't in the admin group...
