My Machine is froze about 3/4 of the way thru the sp3 install. Been sitting
there for almost an hour with no movement of the progress bar. How long
should I wait? What should I do with the machine? I have no data on the boot
drive, it's all on D: .

First, make sure the machine is malware and viruses free by running a
thorough scan!
Run disk clean up on your Drive and read these info here:

Open a notepad and copy and paste the following into it and save as
update.bat on your desktop. Double click the bat file to excute and click
[Yes to register the dlls and reboot your machine and see if that will help!

regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll

2+ hours, at minimum.
What should I do with the machine?

Don't *touch* the machine for a minimum of 2+ hours.

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

Thanks to all for the help. I let the machine set for almost 4 hours. The
progress bar never moved the whole time. It seemed to be stuck in the cleanup
phase. I used task manager to end the app then rebooted the machine. It seems
to be running fine although Glary Utilities and Advanced Windows Care found a
bunch of problems in the registry. It seems to be working fine and about
windows says that SP3 is installed.
