SP3 blocks MS WMPLayer 9 and 11 video function

Hi,
can I repair the following problem somehow in Registry (setup)?

WinXP Home, SP2: WMPLayer 9 plays both sound and video in Admin or User mode
(MPG or WMV)
*** After installing SP3 ***: WMPlayer9 plays only sound, not video, in User
mode.
Plays still both in Admin mode.
Strange:both the old and tiny wmplayer2.exe and Quicktime player play videos
correctly both in Admin and User mode.
Upgrading from WMPlayer 9 to 11 did not help. reverting to SP2 was not
possible.
DirectX ok, as checked by a microsoft website. WMPlayer has all file
extensions checked.
Who can help, please, to get my WMPlayer 9 behaving correctly with SP3?

Thier is no such an animal as "Direct X checked by a microsoft web site"....
Try checking WMP by running WMDiag..
