I finally downloaded SP2 for IE6 and I think my PC runs slower and has
developed some glitches. Do I really need to use this service pack?
Thanks!

You can disable IE, if you so choose - set the proxy server address in the
advanced tab of IE to be 0.0.0.1. And this doesn't affect Automatic update
downloading, either!

You will need IE if you want to visit windowsupdate.com, though some
browsers (I know Opera supports this) have plugins that you can download so
you can make the browser emulate (act like) IE.

In theory, you can go to start -control panel -add remove programs -add
remove windows components and remove IE, but it doesn't get rid of it
completely.

I use firefox, and I love it - it's the only browser we use at home.

Well the other responses cover this one regarding disabling it, but as
they said be careful with that because a lot of apps use IE underneath
them and you often don't know it.

Now if your concern is having more than one browser installed at the
same time - no worries there at all. In fact, you can have both
browsers running simultaneously without any concerns.
