before SP2 - plug in wireless USB it would appear in the
Safely remove hardware box in the system tray.

after SP2 - doesn't appear in the safely remove hardware
system tray, works fine, but just doesn't appear. So If
I want to disconnect, there isn't any SAFE way to do
this..

anyone have a fix?

Mike,

I can only offer a guess. Network connections don't need any
safe disconnect, because that's actually impossible anyway. So
my guess is that Microsoft removed this useless function.
