Due to some problems on my laptop i decided to uninstall sp2 for xp (pro)
using Add/remove software.
During the uninstall process the laptop crashed and rebooted.

Just about nothing works now: no network, IE, Oulook, but unfortunately
also system recovery does not work. Also i cannot proceed the sp2 uninstall
it just hangs on Collecting information.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Emil

I also had aproblem after partially uninstalling an unsuccesful SP2 install.
The best thing to do is back up all of your data and the reformat the hard
disk and re-install your software.
I spent days trying to find a solution and decided this was the best route.

I had the same problem. I spent 5 hours with Microsoft
and finally got it right

Don't let them transfer you to someone else. Make them
stay with you until its right. Make sure you have your
serial number

Good Luck and make them stay with you

Ok, thanks. Think you're right, it would take about 2 hours to reinstall
everything.
Faster and cheaper than to call the MS helpdesk :-)

Thanks.

First i tried "sfc /scannow" ENTER but it does not recognize
the XP CD (special CD for Acer laptops) after it found some
missing files.

Then i tried to reinstall SP2 package but that also failed because
it could not determine the integrity of some previous installed file.

A format it is :(
