I went ahead and installed SP2 a couple days ago, and so far everything
works great! A matter fact, the computer seems faster! I can't find any
incompatibility's yet. I was impressed how streamlined and simple the
installation interface was. Towards the end of the install, it asked me a
few questions regarding how I wanted the firewall to functions, etc. It saw
Zone Alarm and asked if I would be using it. After telling it I would be
using Zone Alarm as my firewall, it asked about which security center I
wanted to use, McAfee's or SP2, I was impressed that it was aware of my
configuration and used that data to make the best choice setting up.
I know I'm one person, but I thought I'd share my story none the less.
I hope other's have just as much luck as I did.

Rocky,

Your success has been repeated thousands of times (11 in my case), but most
of the posts here would leave you to believe that the users are innocent of
having messed up their computer and SP2 is to blame.

It's good to read your post.

Hey Chuck,

If it was so goooood, how come I have just read this on influential TechRepublic e
" TODAY'S TOP STORY
Falling 80 million copies short of its self-imposed goal of distributing 100
million copies of Windows XP Service Pack 2 in two months, Microsoft announced
Tuesday that it will speed up SP2 distribution in the next month. The software
giant plans to increase the rate at which it sends out automatic update notices.
Talk about Microsoft's SP2 distribution plan in the article discussion. (On the
go? Print this news story.)"

Only 20million using SP2 in the entire world (dare I say on this big planet of some 8 billion people) is not the record MS would like to be associated with. Why are people not trusting Microsoft? Surely, the enire planet can't be wrong!!

I have installed it and I have no reason to complain. Howver, I am just using a stand alone PC running simple applications such as WordPerfect Office, Delphi Progeamming language, Borland C++ Dos based programming language, Netscape 4.8 and 7.2, and very slow dialup connection. So any problems with SP2 may not apply in my case!

Best regards,

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.
