SP2 Slipstream doesn't work... what am I missing?

Hi all,

I have the following problem and was hoping someone might see what I ain't
seeing:

- My pc came with WinXP Home SP2 in October 2004. Until now, that has not
been a problem.
- I purchased a WinXP Pro (Not SP2) upgrade for another (currently scrapped)
pc in 2003.
- Now I need to replace the WinXP Home on my newest machine with Pro, and do
not want to nor have the funds to purchase a new upgrade.

I downloaded the SP2 service pack and slipstreamed it into my original
upgrade installer cd using Autostreamer. However, when I try to upgrade, i
still get the error saying that the installed OS is newer than the one I want
to upgrade to.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks/

Chavo

So why even fool with it when its already been registered to another
machine, you cant transfer the registration, you wont be able to register the
installation.No updates,no downloads from microsoft,and after that,xp deletes
itself if not registered within a short time...

When are you going to stop posting such glaringly WRONG answers?
There are no restrictions on moving retail or upgrade versions to a new pc.

Again your information is wrong.
The obvious clue: Registration.
Registration is optional and has no effect on anything whether registered or
not.

Were you confusing Activation and Registration?
Even so, your entire post from beginning to end is FALSE.

Assuming the Windows XP Pro is retail and not OEM, it should work.
Try slipstreaming it again in case something went wrong the first time,
follow directions carefully.
