SP2 slipstream disk

I've made a SP2 slipstream disk from an original XP CD. The only problem
is that it's an upgrade CD. I've got several full version XP CDs, but
they all have SP1 on them, so I can't make a slipstream disk.

Is there a way to take selected files from the full version onto the
slipstream CD so I don't need to re-insert my Windows ME CD each time?

Answer:

No. You have a license for an upgrade and not a full version of Windows XP.

There is no reason why you cannot slipstream SP2 with a Windows XP w/SP1 CD.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

Yes I do. As I said, I have several licences, but the only one without
SP1 is an update version.
There is no reason why you cannot slipstream SP2 with a Windows XP w/SP1 CD.

When I try, it says more files cannot be incorporated as some have
already been incorporated.

Try it before offering advice.

Hello Nigel,
If the cd only has Sp1 slipstreamed on it, you can slipstream sp2 on it.
If there are other updates included in addition to Sp1 on those cds you
will get the error message that you refer to. So those cds have additional
updates included, which is why you cannot slipstream SP2
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Answers:

One cannot incorporate a "Full Version" Windows XP license into
an "Upgrade Version" of Windows XP. Once again, one cannot modify
an "Upgrade Version" Windows XP installation CD into a "Full Version"
Windows XP installation CD.

And yes, I have successfully slipstreamed SP2 using a Windows SP1 CD.

As Mr. Darrell Gorter of Microsoft has graciously pointed out:

"If the CD only has SP1 slipstreamed on it, you can slipstream SP2 on it.
If there are other updates included in addition to SP1 on those CDs, you
will get the error message that you refer to. So those CDs have additional
updates included, which is why you cannot slipstream SP2."

hi,
I won't be able to tell you exact filenames and location, but certainly I
can help you in creating Windows XP Pro SP2 Slipstreamed CD.
Recently I have created such cd with the help from
http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&showarticle=49 you can also
check out the article here
http://windowsexplorer.blogspot.com/2004/08/slipstreaming-windows-xp-service-pack.html
and just follow the guidelines. If you have tried the slipstreaming earlier
I am sure you can do it easily for SP2 also.
All the best

Thanks and Regards,
