I oversee a small network, and I have recently installed
sp2 on the pc's, is there a setting that is turned on
that doesnt allow the pc to be pinged? I was trying to
troubleshoot a pc that was connected to the network,
however didnt get a response even though I know they had
a connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, SP2 enables the firewall.
This will block the pings by default.

Go to the control panel, and go to the Windows Firewall.
On the Exceptions tab, enable F+P Sharing exception.
That will enable the machines to connect to each other.
It will aslo allow them to be pinged.

If you don't want to enable the F+P sharing, you can still enable them to be
pinged from the Advanced tab, ICMP Settings button. Check 'Allow incoming
echo request'.
