SP2 Problem with Scanner

G

Guest

Since installing SP" my scanner is not seen
Obviously I am running XP and the pro editon
The Sanner is a Umax Astra 1220 S
I am aware that it is old in computer terms but this was a superb scanner
and is built like a tank.
It seems such a shame to ditch it
Can anyone suggest a solution

I have
Unistalled and reinstalled both SP2 and The Scanner Several times in many
combinations
I Have dowloaded the latest drivers
I have contacted Microsoft and Umax ( The latter were quite rude and told me
to buy a newer model)

I think that I have tried almost every conceivable Trick

But I am not to old to learn.

Thanking you in advance for any suggestions.

Is this a SCSI scanner? If so, is the SCSI card seen correctly in Device
Manager?

My apologies
I should have said it was a SCSI card, and that I had re-seated it and even
placed it in a different slot
Still to no avail

This is no help but I have a 2000P I couldn't get to work right with XP and
had to get another one. I ended up getting a Lexmark all in one and really
like it.

You will probably need a newer driver from UMAX. Call their Technical
support.

Thank you peter I spoke with India
Sadly my English is not thiers
Thier response was throw it away and buy a new Umax

What do you think of a company who's attitude is like that
Not much is mine

Since installing SP" my scanner is not seenI am working on a simular problem. My desktop will not recognize the
HP SJ5550c scanner after sp2. I also reinstalled the os several
times. Along the way, the computer will initially recog the scanner,
and after further updates of the OS, the scanner will not woek (error
message of "scanner is busy" or "cannot communicate with scanner".)
Tried using my laptop (also updated to sp2) and it worked like a
charm. I guess the USB controller was defective, but other devices
work ok when connected to the same USB ports. I'm RMA'ing the mobo.
Will let you know what happens when the new mobo is up and working.
