dear all

following a rollout of sp2 for XP pro, we have been seeing some problems
when logges on as domain administrator, they exibit themselves like this,

we have set windows firewall to off as we are otherwise protected on the
networkbut are experiencing real difficulty with the latest version of sp2.

unable to run windows update
unable to register XP
unable to install progs
unable to run search
unable to open Component services\computers DCOM
if any of these actions are attempted an hourglass is breifly displayed
before returning to a pointer.

if you open windows firewall advanced tab from control panel, the connection
settings box reports
"the network settings have become corrupt to fix this click restore defaults
(Dosnt work) this will delete all your settings for windows firewall"
re-instaling sp2 resolves this but the issue will reoccour.

has anyone else seen this and does anyone know of a fix, help me please im
going nuts here!!

(Microsoft you should stick to OS software if i want a firewall ill buy one)

yours
Paul.

I am having the same problem and cannot find any answers. After i install
SP2 I cannot access network connections. ( shows nothing in this window)
"My computer" searches with the flashlight icon but nothing shows in the
window. Under windows firewall, Advanced it says: The network connection
settings have become corrupted. To fix this click restore defaults .......
When I go to restore defaults nothing happens. If I uninstall SP2 everything
goes back to normal. I have installed SP2 on many machines and have never
seen this happen.

Good luck with this one right?
