SP2 modem/internet problem

I've installed SP2. I'm runnihng XP home edition.
Everything works except I now have trouble
staying on line if the firewall is enabled.
With firewall enabled, everything is normal for about 5
minutes. Then the modem (US Robotice faxmodem pro
external) fails to respond but stays connected for about
one or two minutes more before disconnecting. I then get
a error message saying the modem failed to make a
connection.
If I disable the firewall that comes with SP2, I have
no problems staying on line any length of time.
I've passed this on to my ISP. He's still scratching
his head.
Anybody else have this problem?

Hi

Have you got a 3rd party Firewall installed? If not, try ZoneAlarm -
www.zonelabs.com - then you can disable the XP Firewall.

Did you try to update the driver?

Sounds like a modem trouble to me anyway. Like maybe you
need to find out if there is a fix for your modem for SP2.
