SP2 makes me violent

I'm using XP Pro and trying to install SP2 because some software I want
to load is requiring it. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch the thing. I'm
trying this on a fresh install of XP Pro so there should be no
conflicting software. I've only loaded Dell drivers. After I've
loaded SP2 (the devil), I get a BSOD that flashes so fast I can't read
anything on it, then I get stuck in a reboot loop. I can get into SAFE
MODE and uninstall it, but this isn't helping me load the software I
need to load. All the threads I've searched just suggest somehow
getting rid of it or reformatting. I've had some kind of problem with
SP2 on every machine I've ever tried to put it on. It hangs on every
computer. So I've just stayed away from it. But, obviously, I need it
now. So, can I get some help here? It's been out long enough that I'm
hoping someone's figured this out by now.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click
on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties,
Advanced, StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck
box before Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties. Hardware,
Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What drivers
are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Hope this helps.

Alright, got the error:

Bad_Pool_Header

Stop: 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0x810B0540, 0x81DB0578, 0x1A07005B)

From the other things I've read online from others having this problem
it sounds like a hardware driver issue. Someone said it happened with
Netgear and Linksys wireless cards. I don't have either one, but
mine's a generic so I don't know what kind of driver it has.

Slipstream SP2 into the installation CD and do a clean install with that.
Autostreamer makes it easy.

I tried using AutoStreamer but I can't get past the 2nd screen where
you have to tell it where your Windows cd is and the SP2 file. I click
on the magnifying glass but there's still a red 'x' and it won't let me
move forward.
